Vets v studlands won 5-1 11th sept

Today we welcome back from there summer break, Nigel Parker, Howard Kemp,Chris Parker and Kevin Anderson ,which was good as we were down to having only 12 players available, and our star play maker ,sedge could only play the 1st half. It was the 1st meeting with studlands , and they looked quite a youthful side, so we had to be on our game. We started a little slowly and studlands were causing us a few problems, but when we upped the pace ,we started creating a few chances especially when we got the ball wide on both flanks, and it was a cross from Howard that the keeper under pressure ,punched the ball out to the edge of the box, it fell into the path of Kevin Anderson ,who slotted it home. The second goal wasn't a long time coming ,when another cross came in and 2 touch out jumped the keeper from 8 yds to score a great headed goal. Studlands heads dropped a bit ,as we were now playing some good football, and the save from the keeper ,from a brilliant 5 man move ,with sedge shooting at goal, was excellent. We did have about 10 other efforts, but sadly missing the target, and sometimes the netting behind the goal, with Chris ,2 touch and sedge being the main culprits. 1 good thing I did see was our centre half Kevin heading a ball forward in there box, but sadly not on target.half time 2-0 Captain Clark came on for the second half ,so I moved dippy up front, he had played well at right back, his problem 2nd half was the amount of time he was caught off side., but he still gives value for money great entertainment. 10 mins into the half we conceded a sloppy goal, which gave studlands a lift, and they had a good 10 mins spell, but we managed to ride the storm ,and on Chris's 6th attempt at goal ,this time from 20 yds he hit the target with a shot that flew over the keepers head. This restored our 2 goal lead, and the win after that was never in doubt. 2 touch volunteered to go in goal ,( he had been excellent for us in midfield) and give Chris Parker a run out on the pitch,as he had helped me out by playing in goal. We were running the show now and a brilliant run from Gavin to beat the offside trap ,he ran down the left side and crossed the ball to Kevin Anderson, who from 18 yds smashed the ball passed the keeper. Chris Parker was causing a lot of problems with his extra fitness and could have ended the match with at least 3 goals, had it not been for some brilliant goalkeeping . He did get rewarded though when another great run from Gavin, found Chris just outside the box, he advanced a few paces before slotting it home. 5-1. Thank you to all who played today, The pitch is in a great condition , it was a good all round display, defence was solid. Midfield worked there socks off and controlled the game, and kempy unselfish running up front and dippy for turning up and making lovely sandwiches. M.O.M today with 8 votes out of 12 goes to Kevin Anderson
