Hemingford v Buckden

Kingy has had his normal week, Being the magnificent Postman he is and having to re- arrange another fixture due to Caldecott pulling out at the last moment.

So the first home fixture of the season was against Buckden . Kingy picked the side and then shot of for his Bowls final. How things have changed.!!

We had a strong 14 – Youngy in goal- Dippy at right back, Darren at left back and Kev and Nigel making up the back five. Midfield was Little Kev, Two touch, Simon and and Chris Parker. Up front was Big Roy and Kempy ( great to see him back).

The bench was Roy and two Buckden old boys Dazzer and James making his debut.

We started very well passing and moving with Simon and two touch working hard. Dippy and Darren were getting forward which was causing issues at the back. Roy and Kempy were making great runs. The first 10- 15 minutes saw several chances missed from Two touch head and a couple of blocked shots.

Then we tried to play off side and Dippy played Buckden number 10 on. Youngy made a fantastic save- Unfortunately we seemed to be more interested in having a chat with Blakey. Big Ray followed up and we were 1-0 down.

This gave a very average Buckden side some confidence to play and work very hard. We went missing for 10 minutes . The last 15 minutes were better . However we were caught flat at the back again. Some great work from Buckden Scott , Ray and Kev made it two. The boys were shell shocked until Dippy found , little Kev. Great 1-2 with Kempy and a cross with Big Roy making it 2-1 at half time.

Some very articulate words were said at half time from Dazzer as we were doing all the right things but looked very nervous in front of goal. Two changes James came on for Roy who had to leave and the Scottish wizard came on for Dippy.

We started well and played some fantastic stuff in the second half. Had 18 shots on goal, hit the wood work four times and with Roy at the back we were better balanced.

Dippy cam on for the last 20 minutes for Kempy who is getting back to his best. Two touch and Simon played really well second half and Chris made some great crosses as Little Kev went missing.

I have never been on the side lines and see a team dominate for 45 minutes- So in Blakey time a great cross in and and near misses Two touch made it 2-2.

The summary being some fantastic play but we are still off our peak performances.

Some big players to come back which will help but a good result.
