Vets v The Boys

The final game of the season ,saw us take on the boys.

It was a good day for the boys to get a little revenge on us as we were struggling to get a team out ,only 11 players were available for kick off.

The boys really wanted to win this ,as they had a lot of better quality players. I think this is only our 2nd defeat in about 16 games.

We were under the cosh early on ,and messing about with the ball at the back caused us early problems. We were getting totally outplayed, and it was no surprise when they scored 6 goals in the 1st 25mins. ( don't want to say too much about them ,but they were hungry for goals) After that we started to play a bit with sedge, Simon and Nigel trying to get us going.

We were finally rewarded with a goal late in 1st half when dippy fired in from 10 yds. 6-1 half time.

I wasn't too happy with our 1st half, and had a little rant .

I think it perked us up a bit, and did also help us ,that we had Roy to come on, giving us 12, and the boys lost 1 player,so they were down to 10 , now that was a fairer game We started to boss the match, and dippy again scored a brilliant 2nd goal with a great shot from 20 yds that flew into the top corner.

We continued to press and wasn't surprised when rudders scored a good third goal from just inside the box.

The boys rallied late on and scored in the last few minutes to win the match 7-3.

The result didn't really matter,we had given it our all 2nd half.

Kev in goal (guest) from buckden, didn't have any chance with the goals, and pulled off a couple of great saves 9/10 Kevin Anderson, played even though he was carrying an injury, and that says a lot about the man 9/10 Kevin Hirst, hated losing and again gave it his all, has had another great season, and 1 of 3 players who was close to getting players player of the yr,9/10 Nigel Parker, worked his socks off, always encouraging, trying to keep people going, and thoroughly deserved his award of players player of the year. 9/10 Kevin Clark (guest) from buckden, only wanted 20 mins, but ended up having to play all match 9/10 Dazz may, you get what you see, total commitment , strong aggressive and a great chap to have in your team 9/10 Simon, joined us this season ,and has got better and better every game. Very infuriating player, (think he does it on purpose to wind me up).scored 2 great goals today 9/10 Rudders. New additionsince Christmas, great player to have in the team, works hard ,scores goal and a good team player. Think he will be a big player for us next season.9/10 Roy Essendoh, turned up at 11 and came on at half time. Really a great chap,to have in your team, hope he will get involved more next season ,and play a few more games.

We have had another great season, playing 24 matches, we have had a few defeats, but that has mostly been down to the opposition, playing a few and sometimes a lot of underaged players. This is a compliment to us, but I would rather sides played fair.

I may have to look to play other teams next season, that don't cheat.

It has been harder this season getting players, so I will be on the lookout to bring in fresh faces next season.

Thank you all for your commitment and effort for the season, enjoy your summer, keep fit and healthy, and we will go again next September Kingy
