Hemingford Vets traveled to St Neots first team pitch on a Friday night under flood Lights. Kingy put together a strong 14 for Dazer to pick a side that needed to be on their game against a St Neots team.
Youngy – Goal Keeper
Little Kev – Right Back
Centre Half’s- Big Kev and Nigel
Left Back- Gavin
Midfield – Missing Two Touch and Sedge – Chis P- Chris- Simon and Rudders
Upfront – Big Big Pearcy and Howard
Bench- Over 54 – Dazer- Quincy and Roy
The atmosphere was electric in the changing room and the music was loud on the pitch. We started really well with a great run in the first two minutes and Rudders crossed and found the Net- 1-0.
Then St Neots dominated for 15-20 minutes we were not finding our passes and gave them far too much Room . A great ball in and a good strike 1-1. Then 2 minutes later a mix up in their box and goal keeping error gave Chris P an easy chance for 2-1. We then stepped back and St Neots equalised 2-2.
The St Neots side were strong , physical and some strong tackling from their centre half’s saw Howard unfortunately come off injured. Quincy joined the game with his electric pace .
Dave Seaman our ref for the night had a great first half controlling some physical stuff.
Half time- Good performance and Dazza thought about bringing his self on to sort a couple out but if was a Friday night. On Came Roy for Gavin.
We started really strong in the second HALF. However they scored a great third- Then a great ball from Kevin Anderson who was having his best game for years but a ball on Quincy head 3-3.
Hemingford dominated the second half but their play maker made it 4-3. Some great defending by Nigel and Big Kev kept us in the game . Simon was making things tick and St Neots even bought on their first team Goal keeping coach.
Roy was making some great tackles and Chris in midfield was taking all the stick. Big Pearcy was putting himself about and winning the ball. A great thru ball from Simon to the galloping Gavin saw Chris P make it 4-4.
Dazza was on for a cameo role and trying to find their hatchet men. No need we were magnificent second half. Some great play from Little Kev and Chris p saw Kev score a great winner.
Game over . 5-4 and a proper game of football- Probably we will not face a stronger, physical vets side this season.
Really proud of the boys and a couple of beers, fish supper was a great end to the night for some of us. Nigel had two Fish dinners( surprise).
Pearcy and Rudder went Clubbing – legends.”
