Vets v Red Bull Won 2 0

What a day, I have been waiting for this for 10 year .we finally beat Red Bull ,we have been getting closer and closer to beating them. Great victory. We were missing our top scorer and playmaker sedge who was in Wales on a cycling event, so I sneaked in an able replacement Brett Fairholm ,who did an excellent job. Howard Kemp who,s birthday it was today was captain for the day, as our normal tosser John Clark was injured, but being the good clubman he is,came to watch and support us. We were kicking against a very strong wind and rain the 1st half and the pitch was very bumpy, but I thought we played some excellent football and restricted them to no shots on target .5mins into match Roy cut inside from the left wing and let rip a shot from 25yds that crashed against the bar, then moments later had a header cleared off the line. There was not a lot of other chances in the half with a lot of play taking place in the middle of the park. From Glen ,who was excellent in goal ,organising the defence, dippy at right back superb reading the game well,or twin centre backs Matt and Kevin solid as a rock,Paul left back who marked one of their best players out of the game,Wazza and Brett excellent winning their battles, Nigel man marking their play maker out of the match , leaving Midge to play brilliantly behind the front two of Roy ,who,s hold up play bringing people into the game was brilliant and birthday boy Howard who,s all round work rate was excellent. 0.0 at half time. Against the wind was excellent , and we continued to dominate the 2nd half without creating too many chances.,but we were starting to get a bit more room. Dippy was looking very good at right back, and a MOM award looked to be going his way until he failed to control a simple pass. The match looked to be heading for 0.0 with 15 mins to go , but a cross from the right by Dippy was flicked on by Roy who found Midge just outside the 6yd box and he coolly slotted it passed the keeper. Red Bull looked a bit ragged and with 3 mins to go Howard turned his defender in the box and was brought down ,Penalty. The defender was not too happy with the penalty ,and pushed Howard again, this caused a few hand bags to come out, but ref Andy Smith sorted it out and sent the player off. Didn't really have any other option. With our normal penalty taker Sedge away, it was left to the cool head of Dippy to take it and coolly slot it home. Final score 2.0 brilliant. A big thank you to the subs Roy and Jardine who didn't get on.the MOM this week was a tie between Midge and Kempy with 6 votes each. Well done all players Sent from my iPad
