Newmarket (away) won 6 1

January and February has  been a stop ,start season ,i thought it might effect our game, but it has actually been worse for the opposition, as we have all kept ourselves fit ,by only having a couple of drinks on a Saturday night.instead of the usual 8 or 9. Only joking. We were playing the in form team Newmarket who have beaten Red Bull TWICE this season, and we have only lost twice, both to Red Bull, so this result of 6 ,1 just shows how well we played. We had to switch the venue,,as our normal pitch was waterlogged, but this i think helped us as it was very big and uneven and good players can play on anything, class       alway shines, and shine we did. We only had 14 today with Newmarket having 17 players with our usual tosser and captain Clarky injured it was left to Sedge to captain the side and he won the toss and decided to play against the wind. I think we bossed the 1st half playing some great football, but the final telling ball just let us down ,and coupled with a few good saves by their keeper the half ended 0  .0 .i don't think Newmarket had a shot. The wind did play a part ,but we were happy with the score. We continued to dominate the 2nd half and our fitness was starting to tell. Matt Warren intercepted a pass on the half way line his pass found Sedge  ,who was full of running ,he played the ball into the feet of Kempy who danced about a couple of players before drilling the ball home from 10 yds to give us a well deserved lead. The lead seems to galvanise Newmarket and they had a good 5 min spell and scored a very fortuitous goal, keeper Barry Cavilla had made a good save ,but only for the ball to hit a player and come back into the net. This goal seemed to unset us and again Kempy was on hand to punish them and score again 5 mins was all one way traffic now with our fitness starting to tell. A cross from Kempy was turned in by Sedge,s outstretched foot 3 ,1 .  Wazza was on hand to bundle a goal in after the keeper had dropped the ball. 4 ,1.  The 5th goal came from the lethal left food of Sedge from 18yds, He had ,had 3 or 4 attempts getting his range and direction before that..The final goal was pure skill, Sedge slotted a ball through to Midge 10 yds in there half,he ran on unchallenged and lobbed the ball over the keepers head from 20yds to finish the scoring off . 6. 1. I think Newmarket were happy to hear the final whistle  as we had given them a good battering. . It was very hard to pick a M.O.M today as a team we were excellent.  Barry Cavilla , goalkeeper, excellent communication skills organisation of back 4 brilliant, when you win 6.1 sounds easy, but you still have to have a solid base 8 ,,10 Kevin Anderson solid right back ,went on alot of over laps ,played ball nice and easy 8..10 Matt Warren .solid performance, spotted the damage early and snuffed it out ,new addition and excellent signing 8..10 Kev Hurst centre half , brilliant at the heart of the defence, great to have him back again winning all his headers, and even played 1 ball out wide to Sedge that was pure brilliance. 9 ..10 Paul left side. Worked tirelessly up and down never putting a foot wrong 8..10 Wazza, midfield, loving his role again, playing some of his best football. Excellent shift as usual 8..10 Sedge midfield ,brilliant again ,gets us going playing some great football scores goals works hard, what more could you ask for .8..10 Glen, mister versatile,  played a holding roll in midfield, and he was excellent, role seemed to suit him, wins headers broke up play ,when needed. Only fault, think he tackled Sedge and injured him. 8..10 Howard Kemp, great  shift again ,hold up play ,running off the ball, 2 great goals, great to have him fit again this season. 8..10 Midge forward, great shift again ,Kempy and Midge complement each other well, unselfish runs hold up play, and last goal excellent 8..10 Stu Smith, right back ,never has a bad game ,plays easy passes ,gets better with age, and loves playing. 8..10 Dazz May, came on left back. No nonsense,  1st tackle straight through the right winger after 50 mins, i think that was the 1st foul of the game,.got alot of space after that, think the winger went off shortly afterwards. Played nice and steady 8..10 Jardine Bell, new recruit ,came on for last half hour, worked hard ,hold up play was good, and had a couple of efforts on goal. 8..10. A fair few players were nominated this week, it was an excellent team professional display, and i have marked all players out of 10. I have given it to big Kev Hurst who for the last few games has been getting alot of votes, but not quite winning it. As i said when you win 6.1 it is easy to overlook the defence. ,but from Barry through to to the back 4 ,a solid base will always win you matches. We were due to play Milton, but they can't field a team,i did get another organised, but they have pulled out as we get a week off.
