Vets v c.u.p 15th feb

After a 2 week break due to bad weather ,waterlogged pitches, we were back in action against C.U.P and looking to keep our unbeaten run going. Would the layoff effect  our game ?   No way, we started like an express train and our football in the first 25 mins blew the other side away scoring 3 times. We were excellent in all departments, playing some brilliant football, with sedge pulling all the strings in midfield ,Kevin Hurst dominating in defence, and Midge and Howard making great runs up front and causing  all kind of problems.  It was no surprise when after 5 mins a great 5 to 6 man move was finished off brilliantly by wazza from the edge of the box.. He was Johnny on the spot again 5 mins later when a shot by sedge was fumbled by the keeper and wazza was there to head home from close range. C. U. P kept on playing ,but they wete snuffed out by our defence of paul, matt, kev and captain clark, who got the biggest cheer when he mysteriously fell over with nobody close to him, and if they did breach our defence ,we had Glen in goal to tidy up.. We were still causing them alot if problems even matt from the defence showed his skill in the box sitting a defender them the keeper on the deck only to miss a clear shot from 6 yds . We did get 2 more before half time with sedge supplying both passes to Kempy who finished both off well. More chances came and went ,but the run from sedge from inside his own half and the finish with a shot at goal from 20 yds was the highlight. 4 0 at half time and i made 5 changes ,which did upset our rhythm a bit but we still dominated. It was only when Matt Warren offered to play in goal the last 20 mins that c.u. p  scored a couple of goals, bringing it to 4 2. ..This seemed to get us going again and another pass from sedge foung Midge just inside there half he ran on unchallenged  into the box ,before dumming  the keeper and slotting home. Another goal from c u p followed after a mistake in the box making it 5. 3. With 5 mins to go  sedge stretched out a leg to steer home from close range. Final Score 6 ,3  it was an excellent team performance and that showed in the votes for the M,O,M with Kevin Hurst, Nigel Parker,Sedge and Mitch all getting 3 votes.not sure if Kev and Nigel getting the votes because of the brilliant after match food. ( only joking boys you were both excellent today.), but the winner today goes to midfield dynamo wazza for his 2 goals and his al around  play.
