Vets match v cambs vets won 2.1

It was back to business today after our winter break with a home fixture v cambs vets. Due to weather conditions i decided to book a 3g pitch at Comberton ,which proved to be the right decision as we had ,had a very sharp frost. We welcome today a new signing Matt Warren who will be an excellent signing. Both teams had 15 players available, so we decided to play 13 a side just to give everyone a game. We welcomed back midge today after a 7 week abscess, and it was great to have him back wth his unselfish play, running the channels and holding the ball up. We were playing some good football early on with sedge spraying the ball about, kev hurst and matt at the back looking solid, and safe hands barry cavilla in goal  organising the defence well. Our legend John Mitchley returned also for his first game of the season and he slotted in well at left back.. That leaves our right back and captain john clark, after his last game before Christmas with his man of the match award, he looked like he had too much turkey and struggled to kick the ball or find any of our players, but i wouldn't be without him as his header in the 2nd half ,when he was running back smacked him on the back of his head. Worth the admission fee mate. Back to the game after 15 mins sedge hit a great cross field ball for midge to chase on the left hand side he took the ball into the box ,rounded the keeper only to see his shot hit the post.,,the ball came back out to midge and his cross found Glen who volleyed it in from 10 yds. We then had to resuffle as we lost Matt wth a hamstring injury. Nigel parker moved back from midfield to the centre of defence, this didn't effect us much with us continuing to dominate the game. Due to some injuries at half time we went back t 12 a side  for the 2nd half we continued to have alot of the ball with chances coming and going.20 mins into the half midge again supplied the cross for our play maker sedge to head home from 6 yds.

Cambs did get a goal back in the dying minutes, but it was only a consolation goal, and we ran out worthy winners . The man of the match today was a 3 horse race ,but it went to man of many positions Nigel Parker. Dippy did vote but didn't play, and no surprise he got 1 vote.
