Vets Match 30th November v Perkins

It was nice to get back to playing football after a 2 week break ,through bad weather. We couldn't have wished for a better morning, with the sun shining and the pitch in great condition after all the bad weather we have had. I had a couple of late dropouts which reduced us to 13 players,it was great to welcome back Nigel Parker after his long injury, he did look different, sporting a moustache, which made him look like biggles, but it didn't effect his display.

We started the game very well  knocking the ball about quickly and Perkins were struggling to keep up with us,we were using the whole pitch to stretch  the play. 5  mins in a brilliant move found sedge on the right wing and his inch perfect cross found dippy at the far post, only for him to mess it up He did try to blame the sun in his eyes  ,but nobody was listening. He did miss another one soon after ,which most likely put paid to his man of the match award. (Seriously, though its good he is playing most weeks now and he is looking alot fitter) The 1st goal  wasn't a long way off and from there goalkeepers kick sedge won a great header the ball just dropping over the defence 20 yds out and falling to kempy who coolly lobbed it over the keepers head into the net.

We were dominating play now ,phil spraying the ball about,Nigel going on overlaps ,Sedge running at people ,Paul and Wazz making good runs into the box ,and defensively Glen Kevin Me and Nigel blocked out any attack. Dave the cat williams was called upon a couple of times to make fine saves. I might need to employ a reporter ,as when you are playing it is difficult to remember all the moves and goals, so i apologise to some of you players. Another 4 goals were scored in the 1st half as we ran riot with the pick of the bunch coming from dippy who curled in a 20yarder into the top coŕner from the left hand side.Sedge got 2 goals and Paul got 1 Again a big thankyou to Roy who went and played for Perkins after 20 mins as one of there players got injured. 5, 0 haf time The 2nd half was similar to the 1st with us in total control, but i think we ran with the ball too much instead of getting the ball to do the work for us.our fitness level was very good and the only goall in the half came from our hard working midfield general Wazz who finished off a good move when he rounded the keeper to tap it in the net. We still needed Dave to make a good save from guest player dippy  who went to play the last 30 minutes for Perkins to alllow Roy to end up  playing for us. Chances came and went as we over ran with the ball.,but the miss of the day must go to Sedge who received the ball at the far post with the goal at his mercy with only the keeper to beat.,only to put it wide. ( just goes to prove even the best miss sometimes,)but his overall game was excellent,as it was with the whole 13 players and today's man of the match was difficult with no fewer than 5 players nominated, but the winner today was Phil Whelan who knocked the ball around well, playing it nice a simple all the time ( plus he lasted the full 90 mins without  getting injured)  Next week see us entertain Newmarket
