Vets match 2nd November

To all those who have visited this site i apologise for the last 3 weeks . I have been away scouting for new talent, but I'm back now so i can bore you with todays match away to Kimbolton.  The pitch was in excellent condition and suited by sides with there styles of passing football. We had a full squad today with 16 players, including my old centre half Kevin Hurst returning to us after a couple of years absence, it was good to have him back . We had to thank dave the cat williams in goal for a brilliant save early on,we gradually  got into the match with sedge pulling the strings  going forward, and a shot by him rebounded off the post to safety.  Some of our play now was excellent  with matt, phil wazz, sedge and kempy playing some good football moving the ball well around the pitch,,and it was a surprise when Kimbolton scored against the run of play. Dave was injured trying to save the shot, and he had to be replaced.  With our normal reserve keeper Glen playing on the pitch due to him having broken some fingers i turned to Matt Rodaway who stupidly stuck his hand up to play in goal. (Good man) We kept playing football and had plenty of shot at goal with Sedge eventually getting us level with a well taken goal. 5 mins from half time a through ball looked to have caught 2 Kimbolton players offside, but no flag ,and they scored.  Half time 2.1 I made 4 changes for the 2nd half and we certainly dominated early on and a throughball was fumbled by their keeper it fell to dippy who is the best man to have it that position as he never panics ,he coolly went around the keeper and slotted it home from 15yds. We were now in total control and when sedge shot from 18yds it got a slight deflection and shot into the top corner to make it 3,2 . Alot of space was starting to appear now and our defence had to be on their toes as they were dangerous on the break. Another excellent move saw paul being denied by the keeper just inside the box. Wazzer eventuality got his well deserved goal for all his hard work in midfield. Sedge then got his hat trick,  before  his scored his 4th and best goal of the match when he lobbed the keeper from fully 40 yds. That was his final action of the game when he came off with 20 minutes to go. Kimbolton reduced the deficit late on when we were short at the back to make it 6 3. They did have another goal disallowed for offside right  at the end ,so the match finished 6 3. A really enjoyable match, played in a great spirit with passion as we all still want to win. It was great to see kempy play a good hour and not get any injury and although he didn't score he certainly played his part..  Every players contributed to a good solid display, but todays man of the match with everybody's vote (BAR ONE AND THAT WAS HIM VOTING)  Sedge gets it for his 4 goals and his all round excellent display.

Next sunday see us entertain Royston Town.
