Result: Sawtry 3 Hemingford Red 4

We had a few players absent for our away match at Sawtry resulting in a squad of just 12. We spoke before the match that this would be a totally different match from the home match when we won 10-2. The first half was very even and both teams had a couple of good opportunities to score but did not take them. We did however score two excellent goals just before half time. First Bertie Kemp went on a great run down the left wing which ended with a fine shot beyond the Sawtry goalkeeper. Then Ethan Pettitt won the ball in our half with a great challenge which led to a fine team move in which Brandon Jack was instrumental. Fittingly Brandon finished the move with a wonderful curled shot into the top corner to give us a 2-0 half time lead. The next goal was going to be important in a keenly contested encounter and Sawtry got it at the start of the second half. We had a couple of chances to extend our lead which we did not take and Sawtry punished us by equalising midway through the second half. To the boys credit although they have played much better this season the desire was still strong to win the match. Tom Best showed this desire by dribbling around a couple of Sawtry players before drilling a shot in the bottom corner. We were soon 4-2 ahead when man of the match Leon Tinker went on a determined run down the right side and crossed for Dan Phillips to volley in with the outside of his right foot. Just when the team seemed to be guaranteed of the win Sawtry pulled a goal back with 5 minutes remaining. No further goals were scored during a fairly nervy ending to the match ensuring the team won 4-3. The team was; Spencer Cordery, Jake Hooper, Harvey Cantrell, Logan Wareing, Brandon Jack, Bertie Kemp, Leon Tinker, Dan Phillips, Tom Best, Tom Lynn, Kai Hickinson, Ethan Pettitt
