Result: Hemingford Red 1 Somersham Town 0

Our first home match of the season was keenly contested and it took a 'thunderbolt' of a shot from Leon Tinker to separate the teams.

We welcomed Somersham Town and the first half was very even with few chances at either end. Both teams worked very hard and space was hard to find. Fittingly the first half ended goalless.

Throughout the match Jordan Ciliberto was commanding as sweeper. Jake Hooper, Harvey Cantrell, Bertie Kemp, and Logan Wareing were solid in defending as well good moving forward. Spencer Cordery positioning and vocal presence in goal was excellent.

In the second half Brandon Jack and Tom Lynn linked well and their movement was very good as we tried to stretch the excellent Somersham defence. Robert McCrossan, Ciaron Lyne, Kai Hickinson, Kieran Weston and Alfie Dawson also played their parts in a very solid team performance but just as the match appeared to be heading for a draw, man of the match Leon Tinker hit a ferocious shot from long distance which flew out of the Somersham goalkeepers reach for the winning goal.
