Pavilion 'Access for All' project update

A stair lift was installed  this week on the outside staircase leading to the balcony. This was funded by the National Lottery and is part of the Access for All project which was initiated in 2015 with the grant being approved in 2016. The installation of the bulk head lights on the tennis netting as you approach the Pavilion from the car park was also part of this project as were the fixing of grab handles adjacent to all the steps on the first floor.

The next part of this project will be  the installation of double doors adjacent to the bar allowing wheel chairs or visitors with frames easy access to the Pavilion lounge from the balcony.  This work, along with the purchase of a folding wheel chair and the installation of additional lighting adjacent to the outside stairs,  was also funded by the National Lottery.

The Trustees approved the installation of bi-fold doors on the bowls  green side of the lounge which will provide a wide, open access to the balcony from the lounge. This project, along with the new disabled access doors, will involve the removal of most of the brickwork on the bowls side of the lounge opening up the lovely views of the bowls green and beyond. The majority of the cost of this work has been met by generous gifts from club members.

The preparation for the installation of the doors and bi-folds will start in the next few weeks and will inevitable cause some disruption as this will require the removal of some walls and  the installation of new lintels ahead of the installation of the double and bi-fold doors.  The bar will remain open during this time.
